### What is Pyramid ?

Pyramid has a base and three or more triangular faces that meet at a point
above the base (the apex). The base is a polygon (flat with straight edges) and all other faces are triangles. It has no curves. Here, you will learn the Definition of Pyramid | Type of Pyramid | Properties of Pyramid | Formula. ### Type of Pyramid :

There are many types of Pyramid :
1. Right Pyramid
2. Oblique Pyramid
3. Triangular Pyramid
4. Square Pyramid
5. Pentagonal Pyramid
6. Regular Pyramid
7. Irregular Pyramid

### Oblique Pyramid

If the apex of the pyramid is not over the center of the base, it is called an oblique pyramid, and the faces are not congruent. ### Right Pyramid

If the apex of the pyramid is directly over the center of a regular base as it is above, it is called a right pyramid. ### Triangular Pyramid

The base of this pyramid has a shape of a triangle, it is called the triangular pyramid.

### Square Pyramid

The base of this type of pyramids has a shape of a square, it is called the Square Pyramid.

### Pentagonal Pyramid

The base of this one has a shape of a Pentagon, it is called the Pentagonal Pyramid. ### Regular Pyramid

When the base of the pyramid is a regular polygon it is a Regular Pyramid.

### Irregular Pyramid

When the base of the pyramid is not a regular polygon it is an Irregular Pyramid.

If r, h is denoted radius, height pyramid then:

### Volume of Pyramid

Volume is defined as the total space occupied by the three-dimensional shape or solid object. The volume is denoted as “V”. It is measured in terms of cubic units.

Volume = 1/ 3 × (Base Area) × height

### Surface area of Pyramid

The surface area of a pyramid is the total area of all the surfaces, including the base area, perimeter and slant height, such as;

Surface Area = (base area) + (1/2) × (perimeter) × (slant height)

### Properties of Pyramid

• A Pyramid has 5 vertices, 8 edges, 5 faces.
• A Pyramid has a square base and four triangular faces.
